Hyundai Doosan Infracore expects record sales of KRW 620 billion this year 2021-12-23

▶ Sales volume of more than 5,500 units thanks to increased large equipment sales and entry into the attachment market expected, the highest since 1997

▶Hyundai Construction Equipment also expecting to record KRW 290 billion in sales, the highest since 2017

Two subsidiaries of Hyundai Genuine (Construction equipment unit of the Hyundai Heavy Industries Group), Hyundai Doosan Infracore and Hyundai Construction Equipment, are expecting record-high sales and sales volume in the domestic market this year 

Hyundai Doosan Infracore announced that it expects to record the highest excavator sales ever in the domestic market with KRW 620 billion by the end of the year. It is the highest performance in 24 years, surpassing the previous record of KRW 480 billion during the Daewoo Heavy Industries & Construction period in 1997. Sales volume is also seen to surpass 5,500 units, the highest since 1997.

Hyundai Doosan Infracore's performance is driven by an increase in sales of large-scale equipment and customer-tailored attachments. Domestic sales of large excavators (38 tons or more) by the company increased 42% from 95 units last year to 135 units this year, and sales of demolition excavators—which are large equipment tailored for special sites—also increased from 19 units last year to 26 units thanks to the launch of a new lineup. 

Moreover, the company entered the attachment market for the first time this year to enhance the work convenience of customers who purchased excavators and sold 2,700 tongs, rotary links, and tiltrotators*, maximizing sales. 

In particular, focusing on the fact that it is difficult to meet customers directly and demonstrate equipment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it held the new model launch through YouTube live broadcasting and carried out customer-oriented marketing such as listening to customer complaints and feedback through real-time broadcasting to lay the foundation for increasing sales. 

Hyundai Construction Equipment also expects to sell more than 3,000 construction equipment in the domestic market this year and record sales of about KRW 290 billion, the highest since 2017 (KRW 324.5 billion).

According to the company, the eco-friendly, high-efficiency strategic model A Series satisfying Stage V, an emission regulation, received favorable reviews from the market and contributed to sales increase this year, and the expansion of high-specification attachment business and increased sales of large equipment led to good performance. 

The booming domestic construction equipment market, which recorded a 10-year high, also contributed to the strong performances of both companies. According to data released by the Korea Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (KOCEMA) earlier this month, cumulative domestic construction equipment sales in October 2021 stood at 27,952 units, a 28.6% increase from the previous year. In particular, large-scale construction projects in the provincial regions, which had shrunk due to COVID-19, resumed for the first time this year and helped sell more than 1,000 excavators monthly for 6 consecutive months. 

“We gained customer trust by reducing the waiting time for products even with the increase in sales volume by securing materials in advance. We will do our best to become a brand trusted by our customers by continuing to provide customized convenience needed by customers and investing in the expansion of the aftersales network,” a Hyundai Genuine official said.
