▶Hyundai Genuine’s subsidiaries Hyundai Doosan Infracore and Hyundai Construction Equipment win prizes together at the Machine Smart Construction Challenge 2021
▶Hyundai Doosan Infracore wins the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award for two consecutive years, Hyundai Construction Equipment bags the Innovation Award in two sectors
▶"We will spare no investment in digital transformation and eco-friendly technology development.”
Two subsidiaries of Hyundai Genuine (construction equipment unit of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group), Hyundai Doosan Infracore and Hyundai Construction Equipment, had their advanced technology recognized by winning prizes at the Smart Construction Challenge 2021 contest hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Hyundai Genuine announced on November 17 (Wednesday) that Hyundai Doosan Infracore won the Best Innovation Award, and that Hyundai Construction Equipment won the Innovation Award in two categories at the Smart Construction Challenge Awards held at KINTEX, Ilsan. The Smart Construction Challenge 2021 is a technology competition hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to identify and support smart construction technologies using 4th industry-based advanced technologies and accelerate field application. The main competition was held early September.
Hyundai Doosan Infracore won the Best Innovation Award (Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award) in the Construction Automation category for remote control-based excavation automation technology combined with the site cloud of the integrated smart construction platform. The company won the award for two consecutive years after winning the award in the Earthwork Automation and Advanced Measurement category last year.
In particular, Hyundai Doosan Infracore drew attention by adding excavation automation technology to the integrated smart construction platform that won the award last year. It is a method of surveying the site in 3D with drones, drawing up the earthwork requirements, and completing site construction by combining 5G-based remote control technology and semi-automation technology. It received praises for providing a comprehensive solution for excavation automation, unlike other participating companies that introduced only individual technologies. In last year’s contest, the company actually demonstrated the technology at the construction site of Geomdan in Incheon.
Hyundai Construction Equipment was a double winner. It won the Innovation Award in the Construction Automation category for Hi ASSIST, an excavator work automation solution, and in the Smart Safety category for Hi DETECT, a smart safety solution for automatic stop using sensors.
Last week at the Korea International Construction Equipment Exhibition 2021 (CONEX Korea 2021), Hyundai Korea’s Construction Equipment Division introduced new construction machines equipped with the Hyundai Connect platform that enables remote equipment diagnosis and automation machine control. The company plans to launch a new 15-ton wheel excavator (HW155A) equipped with machine guidance and machine control technology developed in-house early next year and develop safety systems applying AI technology by 2023. They are part of the company’s strategy for accelerating, developing, and implementing technologies for smart construction sites.
“Hyundai Doosan Infracore and Hyundai Construction Equipment winning the awards together proved Hyundai Genuine’s leadership in technology for smart construction with construction equipment. We plan to continue leading technical innovations through investment in eco-friendly and digital technologies,” a Hyundai Genuine official said. <The End>
