▶ Discovering innovative technologies to expand safety awareness and improve productivity in the construction industry hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport;
▶ Starting demonstration at construction sites in 2022... Proving efficiency & construction viability improvements;
▶ Plans to introduce technologies such as BIM, safety management platforms, & automation equipment to railway construction
HD Hyundai XiteSolution, an intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai's Construction Equipment Sector, has proven its advanced technology in smart construction equipment technology.
On the 21st (Thursday), along with Ssangyong E&C and GSiL, HD Hyundai XiteSolution announced that it participated in the ‘2024 Smart Construction Challenge’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and was selected for the Best Innovation Award in Smart Technology in the railway sector.
Through the Smart Construction Challenge, smart construction technologies were discovered and their onsite application encouraged to expand safety awareness and improve productivity in the construction industry, and the innovation of the technologies in addition to safety and onsite applicability were comprehensively evaluated.
Following the awards given to HD Hyundai Infracore and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment in 2020 and 2021, this year, all three HD Hyundai Construction Equipment affiliates have been honored with awards in this challenge, with HD Hyundai XiteSolution taking the Best Innovation Award.
HD Hyundai XiteSolution, Ssangyong E&C, and GSiL have announced plans to enhance productivity and safety by applying these technologies to railway construction sites going forward based on their achievement in deploying smart construction technologies on site, such as building information modeling (BIM), drones, equipment automation, and smart safety management platforms in this challenge, which has recognized their potential viability.
Since 2022, HD Hyundai XiteSolution has cooperating with Ssangyong E&C to carry out onsite demonstrations of the integrated smart construction solution, ‘Xite Cloud.’
Repetitive human surveying tasks were streamlined by using drones at large-scale land construction sites to conduct onsite surveys, and a highly efficient work system was established by systematically managing construction records with a digitalized earthwork platform. Additionally, automation of construction equipment using 3D machine guidance has proven to improve work efficiency and construction viability by 70% and 84% respectively.
In the future, the company plans to introduce these technologies to railway construction to enhance productivity and prevent safety accidents on site.
By utilizing construction information modeling, Ssangyong E&C plans to build a virtual site, examine the design of complex sections in advance, and predict safety accidents in conducting a multi-faceted review of construction plans. GSiL has provided real-time environmental information and location information of workers and heavy equipment at a glance through a smart safety management platform so as to increase safety at the site.
An HD Hyundai XiteSolution official said, “We are developing a smart construction solution that enhances productivity and safety at construction sites with the goal of sustainable development for mankind, and will apply the solution to more sites by constantly accumulating know-how and data.”
