Hyundai Construction Equipment (CEO, President Choi Cheol-gon) delivered a grant to a master sergeant that returned to his unit after a year of rehabilitation treatment from a land mine explosion during a search mission.

Master Sergeant Park Woo-geun of the 17th Division of the Capital Corps Subordinate Unit was involved in a North Korean wooden-box landmine explosion during a reconnaissance patrol mission at the Han River estuary. The master sergeant lost one leg in this mission but showed strong will to return to the military and was able to make a comeback to his original unit early this month after fully committing himself in rehab treatment.

Hyundai Construction Equipment visited the headquarters of the 17th Division in Incheon, Korea on Wednesday, Nov 16 and delivered a grant of 10 million KRW to praise Master Sergeant Park’s unwavering military spirit, along with a 1.7 ton mini electric excavator to his unit. The donated excavator will be used in the army for maintenance purposes and also to support civilians.

In addition, Hyundai Construction Equipment also delivered 560 donut packages for 3,300 people to enjoy as part of its appreciation and respect to the military and their hard work.

“Master Sergeant Park is a great symbol of true military spirit, unwavering even during a tragic incident,” said Hyundai Construction Equipment CEO Choi Cheol-gon, and added, “This is a value that many businesses should learn from, especially to overcome risks they may face during management uncertainties.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Construction Equipment made an alliance with the Capital Corps in April 2021 and since then been donating grants and equipment, COVID-19 self-test kits and engaging in other activities as a means of support. In addition, the company has also delivered a grant to an excavator operator last October that saved the precious lives of a mother and son trapped in a fire scene. <EOD>
